Project manager at the customer
Following the failure of two combustion chambers in an existing powder coating system, a quick but precise replacement solution was required. The special feature: The new components had to be integrated into an existing housing from a third-party manufacturer – without violating the existing air and thermal parameters.
A renowned radiator manufacturer from Thuringia became aware of LK Metall when searching for a competent partner for this challenging task. Thanks to its many years of experience in combustion chamber production, LK Metall took on the delivery and installation of two replacement combustion chambers. These were specially modified to fit seamlessly into the existing system. After more than six years of operation, the replacement of the defective large combustion chambers was not only necessary, but also a challenge that LK Metall successfully mastered with technical precision and flexibility.
LK Metall developed two customized replacement combustion chambers that were precisely matched to the existing system. High-quality, heat- and corrosion-resistant stainless steel materials (1.4541 / 1.4828) were used.
The key technical data at a glance:
Particular attention was paid to maintaining the correct air velocity in the housing and an optimum heating surface load. Despite the complex requirements, the LK system could be integrated precisely – without any modifications to the existing supply air system.
The result: Proven technology in a new guise
Only a few months passed between the first on-site visit in October 2019 and delivery in May 2020 – a considerable time frame considering the custom-made design.
The new solution impresses with its durability, precision and perfect integration into the existing infrastructure – with minimal production downtime.
The specially developed combustion chambers were designed for two different air volume flows: 67,400 Bm³/h at over 230 °C in the heating zone and 94,800 Bm³/h in the holding zone. Despite these technical requirements, the system could be seamlessly integrated into the existing duct system thanks to precise planning. LK Metallwaren relied on high-quality, austenitic materials during production, which withstand the extreme thermal and mechanical loads and thus ensure maximum service life and low maintenance costs.
