Short and compact

– Project: Hall air conditioning and heat recovery
– Customer: CAD/CAM Schinkowski GmbH, Werkzeug- und Modellbau
– Location: Production halls with an area of 1,000 m² each
– Special feature: Combined heating and cooling function via supply air duct system with PLC control
– Temperature stability: max. 26 °C indoor temperature even at 30 °C+ outdoor temperature

LK Metall products used:

LK Reku 10 ventilation systems(10,000 m³/h, up to 84 % heat recovery), LK TK 100 air conditioning systems (100 kW cooling capacity, 18,000 m³/h air flow rate)

"The ventilation systems and decentralized air conditioning systems from LK Metall have significantly improved the climate in our halls. Even with the extremely high outdoor temperatures that we experienced in the summer of 2018, the indoor temperature in the production halls never rose above 26 °C."

Thomas Schinkowski, Managing Director CAD/CAM Schinkowski GmbH

At CAD/CAM Schinkowski GmbH, LK Metallwaren ensures a pleasant and energy-efficient climate in the production halls. State-of-the-art ventilation and air conditioning systems minimize temperature fluctuations, reduce energy consumption and sustainably lower operating costs.

The customer’s task

In summer, temperatures in poorly insulated and air-conditioned production halls often reach over 40 °C. Tool and model maker CAD/CAM Schinkowski GmbH also had to face such problems. Outdated ventilation technology at Schinkowski also meant that warm process air was building up under the hall ceiling and was being discharged unused from there, even in winter. The aim of the project was to install a new room air system that cools in summer and heats efficiently in winter, saving energy in the process.

The solution from LK Metall

For two existing and one new hall with a total area of 3,000 m², LK Metall developed a customized system consisting of hall heating and ventilation and air conditioning units that combine heating, cooling and ventilation. In summer, the LK TK 100 air conditioning units take over the temperature control via the existing supply air system. They are controlled by a Wago PLC control system, which has been precisely tailored to Schinkowski’s operational processes.

In winter, LK Reku 10 ventilation systems with heat recovery from the exhaust air ensure comfortable temperatures. Up to 84 % of the energy from the extract air is recovered via an aluminum heat exchanger and fed back into the supply air. An integrated bypass control prevents unwanted heating of the fresh air in summer.

The result

Thanks to the modern ventilation technology, pleasant working conditions prevail in the production halls all year round – regardless of the outside temperature. The energy efficiency of the system leads to significantly lower heating costs and a quick return on investment. At the same time, the system meets the requirements of the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG).

The solution from LK Metallwaren combines economic efficiency with sustainable climate comfort – for the sake of the climate.
