The task

When expanding the logistics hall in Oberspier, Gasper GmbH attached great importance to an environmentally friendly and economical heating solution. The aim was to significantly reduce operating costs and at the same time ensure even, comfortable heat distribution without draughts in the 2,100 m² hall – despite the high ceiling height.

The solution from LK Metall

A decentralized hot air system type RBW 125 was used, which was specially developed for halls with a room height of more than four metres. Thanks to modern condensing technology, energy losses via the flue gas flow are minimized and the recovered heat is fed back into the heating process. Thanks to multi-stage flue gas heat exchangers and a double-walled air flue gas system, the system achieves exceptionally high efficiency levels of up to 99.8 %.

The intelligent EC 5000 control unit optimizes operating times and heating output via a self-learning program – depending on the outside temperature and operating times. Additional efficiency is provided by solar air collectors with a total surface area of 80 m², which feed preheated outside air into the system and thus reduce energy consumption by around 15 %.

The result

The combination of condensing boiler technology and solar support not only significantly reduces energy requirements, but also ensures even heat distribution throughout the entire hall area. Measurements by the Institute for Technical Building Services (ITG) confirmed a high level of thermal comfort and extremely low temperature differences between the floor and the hall ceiling (only approx. 0.1-0.5 K per rising meter).

The project was supported by BAFA funding and meets all the requirements for energy efficiency and environmental compatibility.
