The production of sintered friction linings for clutches and brakes generates high temperatures in the Miba Frictec production hall. The aim of the project was to reduce the room temperature by around six degrees in summer while ensuring a continuous exchange of air in winter. The resulting process heat was to be used efficiently via a heat recovery system.
Together with its long-standing partner Förstl GmbH & Co. KG, LK Metall planned and implemented the installation of two REKU 10 ventilation systems. The systems have integrated heat recovery units with an efficiency of up to 84% and one cooling coil each in the supply air flow. A total cooling capacity of 106 kW is achieved via a central chiller.
Due to the limited space in the hall, the air ducts were installed on the hall roof. The systems are controlled via a Wago PLC from LK Metall – including clear visualization for the building services.
Shortly after commissioning, the targeted temperature reduction was significantly exceeded: instead of the required 6 °C, the hall temperatures in summer fell by up to 10 °C. As a result, Miba Frictec employees benefit from a noticeably improved indoor climate and greater working comfort. In winter, the available energy is also used to heat the hall through heat recovery.
