For the international expansion of its hybrid tower system for wind turbines, the Max Bögl Group planned a mobile production facility that could be used flexibly around the world. The production halls had to be fully transportable, quick to assemble and at the same time energy-efficiently air-conditioned – even under tropical conditions. The combination of high humidity, large hall volumes and changing climatic requirements posed a particular challenge. Added to this is the heat that needs to be dissipated during the production of precast concrete elements.
LK Metallwaren developed a heating and ventilation concept tailored to the mobile production modules. RK-K ventilation systems in various output sizes were used. The systems ensure energy-efficient operation thanks to their decentralized design and high efficiency of 99%.
The air is routed via textile air guidance systems, which ensure uniform flow conditions in all areas of the hall. The systems were also designed to be tropicalized for use in Thailand – including corrosion-resistant materials and an intelligent control system that uses cool night air to reduce the temperature.
As the entire technology had to remain mobile, LK Metall integrated the systems into specially manufactured 40-foot sea containers. These contain all the components of the supply and exhaust air technology as well as the heating modules and an oil tank – ready for installation for worldwide transportation.
After a successful test run in Germany, the systems were shipped to Thailand and integrated into the mobile production facility there. Since then, they have ensured a stable indoor climate and constant air quality while significantly reducing operating costs.
Thanks to the containerized solution, the entire system can be used flexibly and can be relocated to new production sites worldwide – a contribution to sustainable and efficient energy generation: “For the sake of the climate”.
