At the Plattling plant, Kermi operates several welding lines where exhaust air purification and fresh air supply play a key role in occupational safety, efficiency and product quality.
The previous ventilation systems were technically outdated, prone to faults and had a low level of efficiency – which is why the company decided on a comprehensive modernization.
LK Metall gradually replaced a total of seven supply and exhaust air systems – in 2020, 2021 and 2023. At the heart of each system is a powerful LKPT 24×24 ventilation unit, equipped with rotary heat exchangers for maximum energy efficiency as well as individually matched heating inserts and filter units. The LKPT compact systems are characterized by their modular design, high flexibility and particularly space-saving installation. The integrated control technology also enables precise adaptation to changing operating conditions – ideal for industrial applications with fluctuating air volume requirements.
The planning and installation were challenging: due to the high volume flows of 60,000 m³/h each, the components required special dimensioning. The systems were installed both in existing plant rooms and – in the most recent project – in a purpose-built steel construction hall. Particular challenges were posed by the precise adaptation to existing air ducts and the dismantling of the old systems during ongoing production operations.
The result: Efficient air quality for sensitive processes
With the new ventilation technology, the welding workstations at Kermi now benefit from a significantly improved indoor climate and consistently high air quality – even under permanently high loads.
Thanks to optimized heat recovery and the use of energy-efficient motors, the energy consumption of the ventilation system has also been significantly reduced.
